Traditional Buddhist malas have 108 beads, and all of the malas in this section have 108 beads. The long mala is the original style for the mala, although many of the malas in this section are made on elastic cord, which allows the mala to be worn as a necklace, or wound around the wrist and made into a bracelet. Mala beads are used in meditation. To use a mala for meditation, simply hold the mala in your hand and say your desired mantra as you pass each bead through your hand. Once you have said the mantra 108 times and passed over the entire mala, you have completed your mantra meditation.
